Overview:

In this live webinar mental health professionals, counselors, and play therapists will explore the essential role of consultation in the transformative process of play therapy. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of how to use consultation as a powerful tool to support children and their families in navigating emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. The webinar will focus on practical strategies for effective communication and collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the child's care. Through case examples and interactive discussions, attendees will discover how to create a therapeutic alliance, apply play therapy techniques, and utilize consultation to empower children towards positive change. Whether you're an experienced therapist or new to the field, this webinar will equip you with the knowledge and skills to enhance your consultation practice and better serve your clients and their families/caregivers.

Objectives:

1. Describe how consultation contributes to the therapeutic process, enhancing collaboration between therapists, families, and other professionals involved in a child’s care.

2. Identify at least 3 strategies and best practices for conducting successful consultations with parents, caregivers, and other professionals in order to support the child’s therapeutic progress.

3. Demonstrate how consultation can be applied effectively in diverse play therapy scenarios, enhancing problem-solving and intervention planning.

 

About the Presenter:

Ashley Lawton is the Director at Integrative Counseling Services. She has several postgraduate certifications in working with children using Play Therapy and additional training in working with traumatized populations. Ashley has presented on various Play Therapy topics, often relating to grief and loss. She is a board member of Friends of Hospice in Oswego County. At Integrative Counseling Services Ashley provides counseling to adolescents and young adults, as well as Play Therapy to children. When not working Ashley enjoys spending time with her two children, being outdoors, and can often be found with a good book.
